VITA KOUAN recently successfully completed the final commissioning of its ballast water retrofit at Chengxi Shipyard in Jiang Yin. The retrofit of VITA KOUAN's ballast water system lasted more than a month from the installation to the final commissioning, of which the commissioning took nearly a week. The commissioning was carried out by dispatched engineers from Wahtung.
We learned from Li Zheng and Wang Ye, who were responsible for the commissioning of the VITA KOUAN, that the basic tasks involved in the ballast water system commissioning included installation inspections, cable checks, hardware testing (valve switches, motor directions, lamp current, etc.), and logic testing. These tasks were necessary to ensure the accurate installation and smooth operation of the entire ballast water system. During the commissioning process, various issues could arise. In the case of the VITA KOUAN, there were problems such as zero grounding resistance in multiple cables and sensor malfunctions. However, with their extensive commissioning experience, they were able to promptly resolve these issues. Finally, after sampling and testing, it was confirmed that the PANASIA ballast water system was operating normally and achieving good treatment results. The commissioning work was successfully completed and received praise from the shipowner.
With the successful completion of the commissioning work on the VITA KOUAN's ballast water system, Wahtung has also completed the supervision, commissioning, and upgrading of its 79th ballast water system. Throughout the year-long period of the COVID-19 outbreak, all the engineers at Wahtung have remained dedicated to their positions, fulfilling their respective duties.
The rising sun brings forth its great light, and may it inspire and motivate all of you.
