Successful Commissioning of MSC SUSANNA's Hybrid Scrubber System (EGCS)

MSC SUSANNA successfully completed the retrofitting and commissioning of the hybrid scrubber system at Changhong International. The project started on June 30th and as completed on August 4th.

This project is currently the world's largest scrubber retrofitting project. It adopts a three-tower hybrid system, with each tower measuring 18 meters in height and 6.8 meters in diameter. A total of 25 high-power seawater pumps and washing pumps, as well as 15 frequency converters, need to be installed. This ship is the 25th out of 73 large container ships contracted by our company to install scrubber systems for MSC. Due to the impact of the Covid-19, the retrofitting of the remaining 48 vessels is currently in queue.

A total of 10 supervising and commissioning engineers were dispatched for this project. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 and the scorching heat, our team closely cooperated with the shipyard and shipowner, scientifically planned the schedule, and worked overtime to significantly shorten the retrofitting period. We helped the shipyard reduce the initial estimated time of 3 months to just 36 days.
