World's Largest! Wahtung fully Ensures Timely Delivery of the 'Green Giant'

On June 22, 2022, the world's largest 24,000 TEU container ship, named "EVER ALOT," was successfully delivered at the China Shipbuilding Group Hudong-Zhonghua Changxing Shipbuilding Base. It officially set sail on June 24th.

 

The ship has a total length of 399.99 meters, a width of 61.5 meters, a depth of 33.2 meters, and a deck area of 24,000 square meters, equivalent to 3.5 standard football fields. It can carry 240,000 tons of cargo in one go and load over 24,000 standard containers. It is more than 60 meters longer than the world's largest active aircraft carrier and can stack containers up to 25 layers high, equivalent to the height of a 22-floors building. It is currently the largest container ship in terms of cargo capacity globally and will be deployed on the Far East to Europe route.

The ship was designed according to Lloyd's Register standards, certified by ABS classification society, and equipped with our company's supplied equipment. Our engineers also provided engineering services. The ship has been delivered on time, ensuring both quality and quantity.

As the first ship of its kind and due to the prolonged outbreak of the Covid-19 in the Shanghai area, various occasional issues arose during the project, such as equipment communication, measurement parameters of individual compartments, heights of blowpipe and the status of airbag heads in each compartment. Despite the challenging circumstances, our engineers persisted in ensuring the progress of the project. They braved strong winds and extreme heat, staying at the forefront of the project. During the commissioning process, they responded quickly, identified and actively coordinated to resolve issues, ensuring the normal operation of the equipment. In the end, they successfully and timely completed all work.

The successful delivery of the world's first 24,000 TEU container ship in China not only signifies another milestone in our product technology and engineering service capabilities but also demonstrates our confidence and determination to overcome all difficulties, including the Covid-19.
